Snowy days and other news

We've had a lot of snow lately in case you haven't noticed.  After the 20 or so inches that we got just before Christmas, we received 24+ inches this past weekend (2.6.10) and then on Wednesday of this week we received an additional foot or so.  Craziness!  Josue hasn't been to the office all week (not that he hasn't been working and it looks like he will get out tomorrow) and we've all been going stir crazy!  Aside from massive amounts of shoveling (on Josue's part) there has been a ton of baking (cupcakes, banana bread, spritz cookies, chocolate chip cookies, apple muffins) and eating going on.

Blizzard #1 (2.6.10)

Snow was 18-20 inches at this point, shoveling out was quite the task.

Daniel ventures into the snow :)

Family pic - squeezing into my winter coat here - belly is getting big!

Our hovering picnic table :)  After the snow was done dumping on us.

Blizzard #2: (2.10.10)

Daniel watched the snow plow clear our road during breakfast.  Note the deeply stained blueberry lips :)

Daniel and Mommy out to play in the snow for the morning!  Thank goodness our colds were short lived otherwise we would not have been able to enjoy the beautiful snow!

Daniel and Daddy and a view of the house...

Daddy takes Daniel sledding - he was not happy about this at all :(  We have yet to convince him that sledding is fun.

Daddy working on clearing the driveway.  Half shoveled by hand and the other half by our kind neighbors snow blower.

Daniel helps Daddy clear the snow, he was very determined, and imitated Daddy perfectly :)

Daniel and I baked cookies the other day to replenish his stash of treats for when he goes poo on the potty.  These are very special cookies for him as he only gets them as a potty reward, he's particularly fond of the sprinkles.  In the mornings after a success he immediately shouts "COOKAYYY!!!!" repeatedly and is very excited over the whole affair.

The stash - this should last us a while if Mommy and Daddy don't hit them too hard!  Daniel had a ton of fun putting on the sprinkles!

Daniel also recently had the chance to feel his baby brother move for the first time!  One morning we were all playing in bed before getting up and the baby was kicking very consistently and so I had Daniel put his hand on my belly to see if he could feel his brother.  And he did several times!  Daniel was very quiet about the whole thing - I think it was a bit hard to make sense of what was happening even though he replied "yes" that he felt his brother kicking.   Daniel seems to be more aware of his baby brother now as he occasionally likes to listen to my belly and we encourage him to talk to his brother.  He also will occasionally hug and kiss his brother (my belly) too.  Super sweet :)  He will be a wonderful big brother!

Daniel "listening" to his baby brother.

In other news we had visitors between the snow storms.  Josue's friend and his family from Honduras decided to take a road trip to give their girls a chance to see snow.  And so Sunday evening they stopped here for the night.  Having 4 additional children in the house under the age of 8 certainly made Josue and I think twice about how many children we wish to have!  It was good to have them here and a great time for Josue to catch up with his childhood friend.

Josue lights the candles - we celebrated two of the girls birthdays during their visit.

Cute cupcakes!  I was pleased with my idea :)

The girls discover the fun of sledding even when you're freezing cold!

Josue [Josue's friend :)] takes Issac for a ride...

Sorry for the mass update, but that's what we've been up to...
